There are certain times when you need clothes dried in a hurry. For example, maybe you’re running late for dinner after sitting on a beach all day long. If you need clothes dried in a hurry, then here’s the secret. Grab some clean, dry towels from the closet and toss them in your dryer alongside any garments you want to dry quickly.
Why, you might ask, would this simple suggestion be of any help when you’re running late and have no dry clothes to wear? It’s helpful because the dry towels will absorb excess moisture from the wet clothes, decreasing the overall drying time of your much-needed garments.
Now, before you start, there are a few things worth mentioning. First, you should only use this method for drying one or two pieces of clothing. Remember, the more wet clothes you put in the dryer, the longer the load will take to dry. Next, you’ll want to ensure the lint trap is clean and then turn the dryer to the highest heat setting safe for your garments. These two steps are especially critical because uncleaned lint traps and lower drying temperatures lead to lengthier drying times.
That said, when you’re ready to dry the clothes, put the wet clothes and dry towels in the dryer and run it for around ten minutes. After ten minutes, stop the cycle and pull out the damp towels before restarting the dryer. Please don’t skip this step, as it’s vitally important to remove the towels once they’ve reached peak absorption. Otherwise, it will slow down the drying process. From then on, periodically check the dryness of the remaining clothes, so you’ll know when they’ve finished drying and are ready to wear.
When attempting this quick-drying method, you should be mindful that towels often shed fibers during the drying process. Fortunately, turning your clothing inside out can keep most of the towel fuzz from sticking to the visible areas of your outfit. As a result, any transferred fibers should stay safely out of view while you’re wearing the clothes. Adding some dryer sheets to the load can also help prevent stray towel fuzz from sticking to your clothing.
Though there’s, unfortunately, no way to instantly dry your clothes, the advice listed above should speed things up enough to help you.
