It’s easy to let relationships slide when life gets busy. Unfortunately, the longer things slide, the more isolated people tend to become. To stop yourself from becoming isolated, let the following tips help you increase the feelings of connectivity between you, your friends, and your neighbors.
- Make time to reconnect and stay connected with your friends and neighbors.
It’s hard to feel connected with friends and neighbors if you don’t make an effort to interact with them regularly. Make it a point to reserve some time each week to reconnect with neglected friends or lost connections. To help maintain relationships with friends and neighbors you haven’t lost touch with, actively work at staying connected.
- Increase distanced contact when you can’t meet up in person.
There are many ways to stay connected when you can’t meet your friends and neighbors in person. Send a text, share a phone call, or leave a comment on a friend or neighbor’s social media page. Another way to enhance connectivity when you can’t meet up in person is by engaging in video calls.
- Look for overlapping hobbies and interests with your friends and neighbors.
You likely have much in common with your friends and neighbors. Take some time figuring out your shared hobbies and interests so that you can participate in them together. The more things you find in common with your friends and neighbors, the more connected you’ll all feel to one another.
