TEAM SPIRIT OF LEGENDARY WARSHIPS by Giovanni Babino (Italy)

Some vessels have become legends. Among them are the HMS Victory, USS Constitution and RM Amerigo Vespucci.

Over the years, I have been fortunate to have visited all three.

It is difficult to express the complex emotions felt when on board.

One meets history and, when looking at the masts, it is easy to imagine the winds blowing, the frozen waves and the battle cries. How could all those battles be won considering all the difficulties?

Perhaps the answer lies in Admiral Nelson’s words at Trafalgar “England expect that every man will do his duty”. He meant every man, not only the Admiral. It is the sense of duty, of the team and of every man that leads to victory.

Lesson learned: it is important that we believe in the team spirit.
