Dear friends of IGAL,
It is with great pleasure that I look back on the very successful MidTerm meeting that took place
from 14 to 17 May. in Copenhagen. Henrik Løbger and his firm Jon Palle Buhl have done a good job
together with Sarah and Beverley and made it a beautiful and educational program. Thank you for
that!
With its open, historic but also innovative character, Copenhagen was an excellent location,
which contributed to the positive atmosphere and success of the event. It was a pity that the
attendance was not as high as expected, but that did not detract from the enthusiasm of the
members and partners present. Once again, the importance of international cooperation was
underlined and good discussions were held.
During the MidTerm, we welcomed David W. Johnson, attorney-partner of the law firm Gibney,
Anthony & Flaherty, LLP in New York (and colleague of Brian Brokate) to our organization. The
introduction was extremely pleasant!
The Business Day started with an enthusiastic presentation by Camelia Gules of the AGM that
will be held from October 27 to November 1, 2026 in Bucharest, Romania. It promises to be a
special event that you cannot miss!
Alexandre Koerfer then gave a great presentation about the new logo, the upcoming changes to
the IGAL website and the various marketing tools that will be used to grow IGAL. Furthermore,
we are happy that Alexandre will continue the IGAL-Insider as editor. The idea is to approach two
members of IGAL every month to write an article. Your input is very welcome.
During the Business Meeting, the Board’s intention to reduce the MidTerm meeting to its original
size, the aim to reduce the costs of participation in the MidTerm and AGM, the Board’s concerns
about defaulting members and the policy of IGAL firms interested in membership that are
located in countries with HighRisk jurisdictions were discussed. A good meeting!
Finally, on behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to express my appreciation for the
participants and partners who have contributed to this MidTerm. Together we have made it a
valuable and inspiring experience.
