And, now, it is over. The anticipation and excitement are gone. There are no more plans and dilemmas what to wear, say, look at, whom to talk with. What is left is the recovery of sleep and self. All in all, it went well.
But, let’s start at the beginning.
Any weather, accommodation or organizational concerns, if any, were overshadowed by reconnecting with our friends The important item was to find out what happened since last year and the two years before when we didn’t see one another, when we lived behind closed doors wondering what will improve it. And, of course, the ubiquitous “when.”
During the Lisbon AGM we held on to these colleagues, friends, fellow IGAL members making sure they never go away. We wanted them to be with us as that was an assurance that we are with them. That we exist.
All summed up, this conference was reassuring us that the ice we are walking on is a little bit thicker than the one we walked on last year in Madrid. We were a bit surer of ourselves in Lisbon.
In the context of the above, we dug in with our inquiries about our friends’ lives and status of their businesses. We were genuinely interested in order to confirm that all was becoming normal and that we were part of it. At last.
All of the other activities of the AGM were extras; like icing on the cake. Kind of like having a good night’s sleep and starting the day with a perfect espresso. Or, having a number of meetings in one day which all end with positive resolutions and happy clients.
We felt connected and happy; satisfied and empowered; as if everything would work out.
And, guess what, it did work out. And now, it is over.
I, for one, am saddened but looking forward to the next one. When I see everyone again it’ll be an affirmation that we have advanced one more step and are together again. Confirming our existence in the process. Again.
Yes, it is over. But, luckily, not forever.
